Shonnese C.L. Coleman, Actor, Writer, Performance Artist, Internet Radio/Podcast Host and Documentarian/Filmmaker was born in Pontiac, Michigan.  

 

As a writer, her written, narrated and performed works have been commissioned by numerous organizations including, Deeply Rooted Chicago Dance Theatre, Joseph Holmes Chicago Dance Theatre, JUBILATION! Dance Co., Opus Dance Theatre, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Harlem School of the Arts and Mind-Builder's Creative Arts Center.

 

Two of her books, "Revelation Art" Poems and "The Stride of Our Walk...The Root of Our Stand" A Collection of Performance Poetry, both offer a glimpse into the world this Storyteller has experienced.

 

As a performer, her stage credits are extensive, including Calpurnia in "To Kill A Mocking Bird" and Nurse Evers in "Miss Evers' Boys". She has appeared in several independent films, TV and over 30 National Commercials and Print Advertising.

 

Ms. Coleman is a graduate of New York University's, Tisch School of the Arts and The American Musical & Dramatic Academy (NYC Campus).

Recently recognized as a Silver Award Winner by Spotlight Film Awards and Best Director of a Feature-Length Documentary via the Marina del Rey Film Festival, she currently resides in Los Angeles, California and affectionately refers equally to New York City and Pontiac, MI as home.
